The Art and Science of Reading Stillwater -Mark Williamson

I will discuss the components/parts of Stillwater, levels/depths of water, definitions, and components of the different zones.  I also look at different issues regarding fish such as sound smell, taste, color will affect fishing. I will share different keys when looking out over a vast piece of water. Things like drop-offs, springs, foam-lines and more.  I will explain the “Black Hole Syndrome” This presentation will enlighten you on many of the things that you may have heard regarding Stillwater.

Tying Michael T's Percolator – Michael T, Williams

Demonstrates/instructs many basic skills in the process of tying a well-proven pattern.
Michael T’s Percolator has caught 18 species of fish since inception 25 years ago.
Instructor will provide all materials necessary for class…..limited to 15 Students.
Michael T Williams has been a feather mechanic for 71 years.

Tying the Expo 2026 Signature Fly – John Kreft

John Kreft will be teaching his RiverKeeper Soft Hackle Cripple.

This fly pattern is designed to imitate a mayfly cripple; a mayfly whose wings are a silhouette of the wing on the surface film or “stuck” during emergence. John will also be covering the details of how to fish this fly. 

Class is for Experienced Tyers. Bring vise, tools, thread. Other materials provided.

Saltwater Fly Tying – Lenny Moffo

I guided full time for 33 years in the Florida Keys. I was asked to do a class on Salt Water Fly Tying.  Many of the flies that I tie can be used here in Oregon. Bring your own vise, tools, 2 bobbins, Materials will be supplied.

Maybe you're planning a trip to a destination. My proposal is that if you're interested in this class you call me or text me ahead of time and let me know what you would like to learn. So we don't waste time.

FFI Fly Tying Instructor Program – Dutch Baughman & Jack Gillis
Fly Fishers International (FFI) Fly Tyers Group (FTG)

The FFI Fly Tying Group has developed a very special Program to help fly tiers become better fly tying instructors. This program will be presented by Dutch Baughman, Chair, FFI Fly Tying Instructor Program. The Program provides a wealth of high-quality fly tying instructional resources free of charge, to all fly tyers. The Program also provides an opportunity for a Fly Tying Instructor to pursue 2 of 3 recognition as an Endorsed Fly Tying Instructor from the FTG Board of Governors. The NW Fly Tying Expo will host a special workshop introducing the complete Fly Tying Instructor Program, presented by Dutch Baughman, Chair, Fly Tying Instructor Program. “Walk-ins” are welcome to attend, and the workshop is free, but to help us assure we have enough Program Materials to hand out, please register for the workshop.
